KSE5 In-Circuit Emulator for 486 architecture
Fully Featured
Hitex Development Tools KSE5 emulator for
the SL Enhanced Intel 486 microprocessors supports 486SX, 486DX,
486SX2 and 486DX2 derivatives up to 66 MHz internal clock frequency
with two personality modules. Target systems with 3.3 volt or
5 Volt and 1X or 2X clock modes can be debugged without the need
to change emulator hardware and software. Specific adapters are
available for the different package variations of the CPU (168PGA,
196PQFP, and 208SQFP). The KSE5 can
also support the 386DX, 386SX and 386EX.
All components, including the emulation processor,
derive power from the emulator system and not from the target.
This minimizes current load on the target system and allows software
development to proceed even if target hardware is not available.
Using the latest technology on the processor module (probe),
like buffers with signal delays less than one nano second, as
well as FPGAs allows the probe to function very close to the
original timings and reduces the physical dimensions of the probe.
The KSE5 provides unrestricted support for all the
features of these microprocessors. Execution breakpoints are
even usable in System Management Mode (SMM). The Bondout chip
permits emulation without restriction even in protected mode.
For example, the segment description registers can be displayed
and modified. A uniform user interface facilitates interchange
between different processor types.
